MEET GABE
Gabe is from the South Island of New Zealand – so Verbier is a long way from the tractor powered rope-tows in the Southern Alps where he learnt to ski!
Gabe brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from all over the world, having previously taught in Japan, the United States and (of course) New Zealand. He’s fully certified in the NZSIA and has big aspirations of becoming a trainer in both the NZSIA and BASI systems.
During the covid pandemic Gabe attended the University of Otago in Dunedin and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Environmental Management. You could say the mountains are his passion b- oth in theory and in practice!
But luckily for us he’s not quite ready for an office job yet…
When he’s not skiing, you’ll find him anywhere outside – golfing, surfing, mountain biking, fishing or diving.

SOME LOCAL KNOWLEDGE:
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOUNTAIN RESTAURANT?
“A creature of habit, for good reason… But for me it’s a tie. Either the Rösti Creblet at Carrefour overlooking the snow-covered rooftops of Verbier, or a wood-fired pizza at Le Dahu in the sun with incredible views of the Combin Massif. They both can’t be beaten!”
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SKI AREA?
“Definitely not for everyone, but a top to bottom of Tortin first thing in the morning really gets the blood pumping! Followed by slushy afternoon park laps in La Chaux.”
WHERE’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE FOR APRES?
“If you’ve got your dancing shoes on (or your ski boots) Le Rouge is a great place for a boogie! If not, and you’re looking for something quieter head down to Alp and Horn and say g’day to Kyle and Mark behind the bar – the best selection of beers in town, slightly above average chat and heaps of TV’s to watch the game if you ask them nicely.”
WHAT’S YOUR BEST TIP FOR A HOLIDAY IN VERBIER?
“The busses in Verbier are fantastic and free! Take a couple of minutes to familiarise yourself with the timetable and save yourself the legs up the hill! Each route tends to run every 15 minutes from Medran, so you never have to wait for long. If I can figure it out, there’s hope for you yet!”
