MEET MATT
Matt has been living and working in the Alps for 18 seasons — what was meant to be ‘one winter’ turned into a lifelong love for the mountains.
Before joining the Element team, Matt worked in a luxury chalet company – so before teaching skiing he’s spent years helping guests make the most of their time in Verbier.
But now he’s made his hobby his job and hasn’t looked back since.
Matt first learnt to ski in the Cairngorms in Scotland. As a kid, he was always begging his parents to take him to the slopes and that early love for snow never faded, so now he enjoys helping skiers of all ages and abilities build confidence and have fun on the mountain.
When he’s not teaching, Matt loves ski touring and freeride days in the backcountry. In summer, you’ll find him on his mountain bike or enjoying life in Verbier with his family.

SOME LOCAL KNOWLEDGE:
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOUNTAIN RESTAURANT?
“It’s hard to beat a Rösti Creblet from Carrefour and lunch on the terrace at Dahu always delivers. Stopping in at Chez Simon for a fondue or a hot chocolate when in Savoleyres is a must as well!”
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SKI AREA?
“Go to Bruson on a powder day, but the Verbier itinerary runs when you want an adventure. Also go to the pistes in the Nendaz sector if you’re heading out to the 4 Vallées.”
WHERE’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE FOR APRES?
“Farinet for après can’t be beaten! And the Lounge for sushi and cocktails.”
WHAT’S YOUR BEST TIP FOR A HOLIDAY IN VERBIER?
“Travel to us by train. It’s easy to navigate with beautiful views along the wa – plus it’s better for the environment and Swiss trains run like clockwork! You arrive at Le Châble just below Verbier and take a short gondola ride with your luggage up to Verbier. Everything’s easily booked using the SBB app.”
