AMEDEA

Amedea - Private ski instructor Verbier

MEET AMEDEA

Amedea is half Italian, half Scottish but raised in London. She went to university in Oxford and Chicago before returning to London to work as a corporate lawyer. Having learnt to ski as a child in the Italian dolomites, she rekindled her passion for the sport on a Peak Leaders ski instructor training course.

Since then, she has used all her annual leave from work to get out onto the white stuff before finally following her heart to the mountains for the full season. She much prefers the chair lift to the London tube on a Monday (or any) morning!

When she’s not skiing, she’ll be somewhere outdoors, probably on a bike or with a pair of hiking poles, thinking about her next triathlon or endurance sport event. In the summer, you might even catch her cantering on a four-legged friend!

SOME LOCAL KNOWLEDGE:

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOUNTAIN RESTAURANT?

“I’m half Italian, so it has to be Dahu! Also (and I’m not sure it qualifies as a “restaurant”) I wouldn’t say no to a hot chocolate from La Galerie du Chocolat in town.”

WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SKI AREA?

“Savoleyres or Bruson for the typically quieter atmosphere.”

WHERE’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE FOR APRES?

“I have to say I prefer being up the mountain, so Bar 1936 is perfect. A handy last stop before skiing back down to town. ”

WHAT’S YOUR BEST TIP FOR A HOLIDAY IN VERBIER?

“Book an instructor at the start of your holiday so you have time to explore the runs they show you and put into practice all those tips they give you. And, most importantly, don’t forget to stop occasionally and take a moment to appreciate those mountains in all their glory!”
