AN UPDATE FROM THE TELEVERBIER CEO

As is the trend in resorts across the globe, the lift company TeleVerbier has made a statement with regard to their plans for the coming winter.

Now, we are aware some resorts have made big statements with a lot of detail and specific plans.

TeleVerbier CEO Laurent Vaucher has made a formal statement, but if you are ready for complex and deep detail, you aren’t going to get it.

Yet.

Possibly the key thing that comes across is that they will wait to see how government guidelines develop and use that to fine-tune their plans as opening approaches.

And when you think about it, we all know that the goalposts can move exceedingly quickly with government policy changes. So for him to make a big commitment now wouldn’t really make sense. It could all be out of date in a week…

There are however some key take-outs from the statement.

WE WILL BE OPENING.
AND THERE ARE (CURRENTLY) NO RESTRICTIONS

Firstly, and probably most importantly, the the lift company is planning to open as usual.

So as soon as there is enough snow we can expect to ski.

Traditionally that would be around the first weekend in November.

The lifts are part of the broader interpretation of Public Transport so they can and will open.

Secondly he points out that they are currently not subject to restrictions or limitations on numbers.

So we don’t have to worry about quotas on lifts or limitations to ski pass sales each day.

Finally the wearing of masks is law here on Public Transport and that is expected to continue – as we discussed in our last Covid update it isn’t really a big issue when you are on the hill.

You can read that blog here.

They have also updated their Terms and Conditions with new Covid clauses so that clients can book with confidence – sensible and simple.

THE CAVIAT

Yes, the eagle-eyed amongst you will have been counting up the number of times we have said “currently”.

In this fast moving and unique situation, we can’t be certain of anything at all.

But we can take a lot of confidence from the current situation and from the pragmatic and cautious way TeleVerbier have approached the issue.

They aren’t bombarding us with detail right now because it’s simply too soon.

So this is all the “current” thinking, but it’s positive, it’s honest and I think it signifies a sensible statement from a company who are not trying to just get a PR message out that could be redundant in a few weeks time.

Needless to say we will be updating the situation soon, so check back on our Blog and keep an eye on Social Media for the latest updates and news.

ON A DIFFERENT NOTE…

We are expecting a huge dump of snow all the way down to the valley floor this weekend.
